Looks like the rumours over the past week were all correct. Sony has officially announced the Xperia Tablet Z. This Android-powered 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet is only targeted to launch in Japan “this spring” and currently has no plans to come to Canada. Overall it seems there are similar features to their previous tablets as it is waterproof and dust proof, plus the Xperia Tablet Z has a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 10.1-inch “Reality Display” (1,920 x 1,200 screen resolution), 8.1MP camera, NFC capabilities, only 6.9mm thin, weighs in at 495 grams and will come in either black or white. In addition, this new Sony tablet packs LTE connectivity so we could very well see it launch on any of Canadian carriers… and it would be a good follow-up to the Xperia Tablet S from last year. No word yet on the price point.
